Large-scale demolition of inner cities

Bottelier handled the large-scale demolition and asbestos removal of a large apartment complex in the city center of Haarlem. The asbestos was removed from the building using a crane, resulting in the dismantling of part of the building.

Within the project, chromium 6 has been removed from the complex and all air conditioning units have been dismantled for fully circular reuse.

THE challenge

The demolition project presented challenges due to its very dense location in the city center. Various measures were taken to prevent dust nuisance, vibrations, and noise pollution to the surrounding buildings. The project was executed with high precision and was ultimately a great success with zero residents.

Our Approach

Bottelier has dismantled the fluorescent tubes and fixtures to make them immediately available for reuse. Securing large quantities of fluorescent tubes is a major undertaking, as the tubes contain significant amounts of metal that harm the environment.

Other components and materials, such as fire hoses, a professional kitchen, complete bathrooms, and doors, have been removed from the building. These materials have been replaced in Ghana for fully circular reuse there.
