Steam turbine on its way to a second life

Bottelier has given a steam turbine a second life after many years of faithful service!

The turbine was part of a large-scale project and consisted of two main components weighing approximately 84 tons each. After a technical inspection of the turbine and its associated components, Bottelier was able to find a buyer within their extensive network.

THE challenge

After the final signature for the sale was affixed, a detailed dismantling and logistics plan was drawn up with all parties involved, with safety, integrity, and the preservation of residual value at the forefront. The biggest challenge here was the available space to get the machine outside, as no facades were allowed to be opened (temporarily).

The dismantling for reuse was carried out in collaboration with a specialized company, which was ultimately also responsible for the reassembly of the machine at the new destination abroad.

Our Approach

Using various lifting, sled, and hoisting equipment, the components were placed on transport frames and brought towards the building's exit. With the aid of a crane, the components were further removed, loaded onto a low-loader, and transported to a suitable workshop for a complete overhaul. All parts were cleaned there and, where necessary, replaced or repaired.

Thanks to a structured approach, expert effort, and good cooperation between all parties involved, the turbine gets a second life after overhaul.
