Removal of indoor steam boilers

For one of our regular clients, we have secured the contract to remove two indoor gas-fired boilers. The boilers had to make way as part of a sustainability project for the energy transition.

Our Approach

After completing the necessary preparatory work, such as drafting the required Health and Safety plans, Risk Assessments, and work meetings, the project could physically commence.

The first step of the dismantling was the removal of the asbestos. Bottelier safely and professionally removed the asbestos and had the objects cleared by an independent accredited laboratory. The second step was the removal of the so-called NORM (Naturally Occurring Radioactive Material); in consultation with the competent authority, Bottelier removed this material in accordance with the appropriate laws and regulations.

The third and final step was cutting the boiler into smaller pieces and transporting it to an approved processor. To prevent smoke from entering the building, various measures were taken, such as leaving the flue in place (natural draft) and installing large fans to create a positive airflow. Bottelier completed this project on schedule, within budget, and with zero incidents.
